MOVA Globes

MOVA globes are a relatively new globe in the market but are big sellers. What makes MOVA globes unique is they are powered by room or sun light and by the force of the earth's magnetic field (see the video below). They do not require batteries and do not have to be plugged in! The globe itself sits inside a clear acrylic case along with a small amount of liquid. These are very cool globes.

MOVA globes are currently available in two sizes: 4.5" (softball size) and 8.5" (slightly smaller than a basketball). They also come in several ocean colors: antique ocean (tan), dark blue ocean and blue ocean. You can also choose from a political map / globe and a relief map / globe and a satellite view map / globe. Each comes on standard three finger stand (as shown in the video below) but other stand styles are available. The globe sits freely on the stand and can be held in your hand and will continue to rotate.




These globes are not only entertaining to watch but are quite functional as well offering many place names. They are made to last for years and have very little that goes wrong with them.

A MOVA globe is becoming popular as a corporate gift. You can even have the base engraved with your corporate logo and / or name.

Alexander Kalifano Gemstone Globes

There are several gemstone globe brands available in the United States but Alexander Kalifano is the best known name. Their globes are a very high quality, the stands are solid metal with a good weight to them and they are electroplated with 24 karat gold. A high quality silver is used on the antique silver stands.

They offer a very broad selection of colors and stand styles. The colors available are: Caribbean Blue, Bahama Blue, Marine Blue, Copperite, Rubalite, Peridot Green, Amethyst, Black Opalite, Opal, Mother of Pearl and Tanzanite.

Some of the smaller globes are shipped in nice gift boxes and the rest are shipping in brown cardboard shipping boxes. They are packed in between two pieces of molded form fitting styrofoam and usually arrive with no problems.

In summary, cheaper gemstone globes a lot of times will have plastic used in the stands resulting in a cheap feel and look. They will also use gold paint instead of real gold and use fake gemstones on the globe. Alexander Kalifano gemstone globes will usually be more expensive but are an excellent choice and are worth the money.
