National Geographic Byrd Globe

The National Geographic Byrd illuminated globe is a desk globe where the internal lights (10 LED lights) are powered by 4 AA batteries which means there is no power cord!  It uses the same globe ball as the Chamberlin globe (see post below).  Most illuminated desk globes have a power cord that must be plugged in which many customers do not like (looks cluttered) so this globe is perfect for them!   The light is activated by touching the globe ball and will automatically shut off after 5 minutes of no activity.

Another nice feature of the 16" diameter Byrd globe is the gyro stand.  This means you can easily turn the globe to where the South Pole is at the top which makes for easy viewing.

This world globe has a blue ocean globe and stands 22" tall and has a total width of 20".  It is also made in the USA!

Currently, the Byrd globe sells for around $255.00.
